2026 NCAA Bracket Simulator

How does the TankOdds NCAA March Madness Bracket Simulator work?
In the default post-Final-Four state, the TankOdds NCAA Bracket Simulator keeps the real April 4, 2026 semifinal winners in place, then rates the Michigan vs. UConn championship matchup from the opening DraftKings Sportsbook title-game moneyline posted late that night. That keeps the one remaining game tied to a real market price instead of relying only on seed history or computer ratings.
If you click Clear Winners, the simulator unlocks the full tournament and switches to opening tournament title odds from Selection Sunday, March 15, 2026, with historical first-round seed upset rates anchoring the Round of 64. In either mode, each run resolves the available games independently and the distribution updates to show how often each team wins across all trials.
What is the Upset Factor in the NCAA bracket simulator?
The Upset Factor slider (0–100%) blends the underlying market-based win probability toward a pure 50/50 coin flip. At 0%, the simulator follows the baseline model directly. At 100%, every game becomes a coin flip regardless of the odds inputs. The default setting of 10% keeps the model market-led while allowing a small amount of extra variance — reflecting that upsets are always possible in single-elimination play.
How is this simulator different from filling out a single bracket?
Standard bracket challenges ask for one predicted outcome per game. This simulator runs hundreds of independent bracket simulations and returns a probability distribution — how often each team wins across all trials. That distribution captures the realistic range of outcomes rather than forcing one path through the field, making it more useful for understanding likely tournament winners than any individual bracket pick.
Default post-Final-Four mode uses the opening DraftKings Sportsbook Michigan vs. UConn championship-game moneyline from April 4, 2026. Clear Winners mode uses opening tournament title odds from March 15, 2026 with historical first-round seed upset rates. For entertainment and informational purposes only.
