Editorial Policy

TankOdds is an independent basketball analytics and editorial site. This page explains how the site handles research, writing, updates, and corrections. The standard is simple: be useful, be clear about assumptions, and don't blur the line between facts, model output, and opinion.

Editorial Approach

TankOdds publishes interactive tools, explanatory pages, standings pages, and draft prospect analysis. Some pages are driven mostly by models. Others are mostly written analysis. A lot of them mix both. The point is to add something on top of public information instead of just rearranging it.

When the site writes about a player, team, or lottery scenario, it tries to say what is happening, why it matters, and what the reader should take from it without burying the point in filler.

Use of Data and Models

Simulation pages rely on assumptions, encoded rules, and current input data. They're built to estimate distributions, not to pretend the future is settled. TankOdds tries to explain what goes into each model and to separate official source data from site-generated output.

When a page uses public standings, lottery odds, trade obligations, or sportsbook prices, those inputs are raw material for a model or an explanation. They are not the finished product by themselves.

Prospect Pages and Analysis

Draft prospect pages are editorial pages, not scraped player capsules. They combine public player context, role, production, and a scouting-style read into one report. A prospect page may cover strengths, weaknesses, role projection, development questions, recent play, and where the player sits in the broader draft conversation.

Those pages reflect TankOdds' own read of the player. They aren't official team reports, league scouting documents, or guarantees about where a player will be drafted.

Updates and Freshness

Basketball information changes fast. Standings move, trade context shifts, sportsbook prices change, and prospect situations don't stay still for long. TankOdds may update pages when new information changes how useful the page is. Some pages are evergreen. Others age quickly.

When practical, pages are revised to remove stale framing, fix outdated references, and reflect real changes in results, season context, or player outlook.

Corrections

If a factual error, broken rule mapping, outdated trade condition, or misleading statement is found, TankOdds may update the page. Reader feedback is welcome and can be sent through the Contact page or by email at prescient@tankodds.com.

Meaningful errors should get fixed once they are verified.

Independence

TankOdds is an independent site developed by StatsLab and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the NBA or any NBA team. Editorial decisions, modeling decisions, and site content are produced independently.
