2026 NBA Trade Tracker and Free Agent Signings
16 NBA trades and 26 notable free agent signings have been completed since the 2026 Finals, worth $1.67B in reported contracts. The most recent is a five-team deal on August 20 that sent Peyton Watson from Denver to Cleveland and shuffled Max Strus to the Clippers and Dennis Schroder to Charlotte. Denver came away with a 2031 first-round pick.
Everything below is listed newest first, with team logos showing where each player and pick landed. Giannis Antetokounmpo went to Miami, Jaylen Brown landed in Philadelphia and a six-team deal on July 8 moved eleven players at once. Kawhi Leonard’s return to Toronto was the other headline and it is still frozen, agreed but paused while the NBA investigates the Clippers. Free agency was just as busy. Donovan Mitchell’s $273 million extension in Cleveland and Victor Wembanyama’s $252 million extension in San Antonio led the money. LeBron James left the Lakers for Philadelphia on the veteran minimum, and James Harden re-signed in Cleveland. Signings have their own table below, and rumors sit lower still, kept separate from the deals that are actually done.

What were the biggest 2026 NBA free agent signings?
Free agency opened June 30, but the league moratorium meant nothing could actually be signed until it lifted at noon on July 6. Dates below are when each agreement was first reported, so most of them became official on or after that date. The bar under each deal shows its reported total against Donovan Mitchell’s $273M, the biggest contract of the summer.

Khris Middleton and John Collins also changed teams this month, but both moved as sign-and-trades inside the six-team deal listed above, so they sit in the trade table rather than here. One caveat on Gary Trent Jr.: his four-year deal was submitted to the league on July 17 and the NBA is reviewing it for possible cap circumvention under the prior-agreement rule, so those terms are not settled.
Which NBA players are in trade rumors right now?
Reported, not done. Everything here is buzz from late June and early July 2026 and can flip overnight, so treat single-source destinations with caution. We only list names backed by more than one outlet. The chip on each card shows how live the situation is: red means it could break any day, amber means real but slower and gray means effectively settled.
Stars on the market
Dallas bought out the last year of Thompson’s contract, so he’s a free agent. He’s expected to sign a two-year deal worth about $13 million with Miami and slot in next to Giannis, but it can’t become official until he clears waivers.
Washington is shutting the door on offers. The front office says Davis stays, and the Deandre Ayton trade was made to pair with him in a two-big lineup rather than replace him.
Other buzz
Duren made All-NBA Third Team, so he’s eligible for a 5-year max worth about $287M, and that’s the number he’s reportedly seeking. Detroit hasn’t matched it and has ruled out a sign-and-trade, but insists he’ll be on the roster. Deep into August, the restricted free agent still has no deal.
Herro landed in Milwaukee in the Giannis trade and he’s on an expiring deal. Detroit was the team most often linked to him, but the Pistons went and got Caris LeVert instead. The Bucks will keep taking calls.
Jokic hasn’t signed an extension, but he says he wants to stay in Denver long-term. The Nuggets will move almost anyone else. Cam Johnson and Aaron Gordon are the names drawing outside interest.
Detroit asked. Dallas said no. Irving stays next to Cooper Flagg.
2026 NBA trades FAQ
What was the biggest NBA trade of the 2026 offseason?
The Milwaukee Bucks traded Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat on June 22, 2026, for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Kasparas Jakucionis and a package of first-round picks. It's the biggest deal of the offseason and the start of a Milwaukee rebuild.
Where did Kawhi Leonard get traded?
The LA Clippers agreed to trade Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors on June 30, 2026, a reunion with the franchise he won the 2019 title with. The Clippers were set to receive Brandon Ingram, Gradey Dick, two unprotected first-round picks (2031 and 2033), a 2027 first-round swap and two second-round picks. The deal isn't done. The NBA put it on hold on July 10 pending a league investigation.
Why is the Kawhi Leonard trade on hold?
The trade was paused in early July 2026 while the NBA investigates whether the Clippers circumvented the salary cap through Leonard's $28 million endorsement deal with Aspiration, the now-bankrupt company whose co-founder was convicted of fraud. Commissioner Adam Silver has said the league did not pause the trade and that the Clippers and Raptors did, after Toronto was asked to commit in writing to absorbing any penalty that came out of the probe. As of August 21, 2026, it is still frozen, but the reporting is trending in the Clippers' favor. On August 17 ESPN reported the NBA had found no evidence that owner Steve Ballmer funneled money to Leonard through sponsors, which suggests the trade will eventually go through. The league disputed that report a day later and says it will announce results only once the investigation is officially closed, so there is no ruling or penalty yet. Until it clears, Leonard stays with the Clippers, Ingram and Dick stay in Toronto and none of the picks change hands.
Where did Jaylen Brown get traded?
The Boston Celtics traded Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers on July 1, 2026. Boston got back Paul George, a 2028 first-round pick, Philadelphia's 2031 first-round pick, a 2028 second-round pick and a 2030 second-round pick.
Where did LaMelo Ball get traded?
Charlotte traded LaMelo Ball and Josh Green to the Minnesota Timberwolves on June 25, 2026, in exchange for Naz Reid, a 2033 unprotected first-round pick, three first-round pick swaps and three second-round picks.
What was the six-team NBA trade in July 2026?
On July 8, 2026, the Mavericks, Pistons, Clippers, Grizzlies, Bucks and Wizards completed a six-team deal. Khris Middleton went to Washington and John Collins to Detroit, both as sign-and-trades. Caris LeVert joined Milwaukee, while Isaiah Stewart, D'Angelo Russell and AJ Johnson went to Memphis. Dallas picked up Santi Aldama and Marcus Sasser. The trade also cleared the salary room Detroit needed to re-sign Jalen Duren.
Where did LeBron James sign?
LeBron James left the Lakers and signed with the Philadelphia 76ers on July 26, 2026. It is a two-year deal worth about $8 million, the veteran minimum, with a player option on the second year and the smallest salary of his 24-year career. He joins Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown, and reporting says Philadelphia landing Brown is what pushed him there over Cleveland, Miami and Golden State.
What are the biggest 2026 NBA free agent signings?
By money, Donovan Mitchell re-signed with Cleveland on a four-year deal worth about $273 million, the largest of the offseason. Victor Wembanyama signed a five-year, $252 million rookie-scale max extension with San Antonio on July 10, taking the 25 percent tier rather than chasing supermax escalators that could have reached roughly $303 million. Trae Young re-signed with Washington for about $212 million over four years, and Austin Reaves re-signed with the Lakers for $185 million over four years. By name, the headline was LeBron James leaving the Lakers to sign with Philadelphia on July 26 for the veteran minimum.
What is the most recent NBA trade?
The most recent completed trade is a five-team deal on August 20, 2026. Denver sent Peyton Watson to Cleveland in a sign-and-trade, the Cavaliers routed Max Strus to the Clippers and Dennis Schroder to Charlotte, Cam Whitmore went from Washington to Cleveland, and Denver came away with a 2031 first-round pick, a 2032 second and Julian Reese. This page lists every completed trade since the 2026 Finals, newest first, and is updated as deals are reported and verified.
Where did James Harden sign?
James Harden re-signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers on August 20, 2026, on a three-year deal worth about $97 million with a player option in the final season. Cleveland stayed in the mix even after LeBron James chose Philadelphia, and the structure was built to keep the Cavaliers under the second apron.
Is Klay Thompson signing with the Miami Heat?
Almost certainly, but it is not official yet. Dallas bought out the final year of Klay Thompson's contract in August 2026, making him a free agent. He is expected to sign a two-year deal worth about $13 million with the Miami Heat and play next to Giannis Antetokounmpo, but it cannot be finalized until he clears waivers, which had not happened as of August 21, 2026.
Why did the Thunder trade Lu Dort?
Cost control. Dort was on a $17.7 million team option and the deal moved his salary off Oklahoma City's books without taking back any money, which is why the Thunder received only second-round picks. It was the third salary-shedding move of their offseason after Aaron Wiggins went to Atlanta and Isaiah Joe went to Detroit, both for second-rounders. Dort made the All-Defensive First Team in 2024-25 and averaged 11.6 points per game last season. Cason Wallace is expected to absorb the defensive role.
Which star players are in trade rumors right now?
As of August 21, 2026, the name to watch is Klay Thompson, who was bought out by Dallas and is expected to sign with Miami next to Giannis, though nothing is official. Jalen Duren is the big unsigned restricted free agent, still without a deal in Detroit deep into August. Anthony Davis is staying in Washington and Kyrie Irving is staying in Dallas, with neither team listening to offers. The Kawhi Leonard trade to Toronto remains agreed but frozen under league investigation.
How often is this trade tracker updated?
We update the page as deals are reported and verified against multiple outlets. Free agency opened on June 30, 2026, and the league moratorium lifted on July 6, so most signings became official on or after that date. Rumors are clearly labeled and kept separate from completed trades.
