Build the mock draft

Run the Lottery. See the Draft Unfold.

The TankOdds Lottery Forecast runs the full 14-team NBA Draft Lottery from current live standings, applies current pick-protection rules, and builds a projected order for the entire lottery at once. The chart shows the projected team in each slot and how many times that exact slot-team pairing appeared in the current run.

After the forecast settles, the built-in mock draft maps that projected order to 2026 prospect rankings, current team-need weights, and recurring mock-draft player-team fits so the board reflects both roster context and what experts are actually projecting. Each generation also adds controlled variation, keeping the top picks nearly locked in while allowing later lottery slots to shift a few spots the way real mock drafts do.

Want to see what the NBA’s proposed anti-tanking rules would do? Hit “Run · Proposed 3-2-1 Rules” to re-run the same live standings under the 2026 3-2-1 lottery proposal — flatter odds where the worst team’s shot at the No. 1 pick drops from about 14% to roughly 6% — and the mock draft rebuilds around that order. The standard “Run” button keeps using today’s lottery rules.

What Makes It Different

The Lottery Forecast runs the full 14-team board from start to finish instead of isolating top-pick odds. It uses live ESPN standings to set the lottery field, applies current pick-conveyance rules, and records complete lottery orders so the projected board reflects outcomes that actually occurred in the sample.

The projected order is based on full observed lottery outcomes, not a slot-by-slot guess stitched together from separate probabilities. That keeps every displayed team-slot pairing tied to an order that actually happened in the run.

The mock draft doesn't treat every pick the same. It uses a weighted scoring system that balances consensus prospect rankings, team needs, and recurring expert fit signals. Top picks still lean heavily toward top-of-board talent, while later lottery picks give need and fit more room to matter.

Each generation also adds position-scaled variation. Picks 1 through 3 get only a tiny nudge, picks 4 through 7 get a moderate one, and picks 8 through 14 get the widest range, which keeps the board from repeating identically while still preserving a stable top tier.

TankOdds also presents the draft in a way that's easier to follow. You see the lottery distribution first, then the projected order, then the player board layered on top. That gives the picks more context than a flat list of names assigned to teams with no visible path behind it. For a deeper breakdown, see How TankOdds Builds a Mock Draft.

Teams marked with an asterisk (*) have picks that may convey to another franchise depending on where the ball lands, while double asterisks (**) indicate the current projected slot already falls outside protection and would send the pick to the recipient shown. The simulator links directly to the Team Pick Sim for full protection analysis.

Once the official NBA lottery results are announced, TankOdds can also load that real lottery order directly so you can see how the draft would play out with the actual results.

The 2026 prospect rankings that feed the board draw from detailed scouting profiles for each player. Top-of-board prospects include AJ Dybantsa, Darryn Peterson, Cameron Boozer and Caleb Wilson. How rankings and team-need weights are set is covered in How TankOdds Builds a Mock Draft and the Prospect Ranking Methodology.
